Axes and Crosscut Saws

I work as a USFS volunteer, sometimes doing trail maintenance, and recently (November, 2020) attended a crosscut saw class. I am now certified as a "B Sawyer, bucking only".
This means exactly what it should, I can work unsupervised doing trail maintenance with an uncertified helper.

This training spawned an interest in axes and saws and here you are.

The bottom line is that, with a very few exceptions, the old stuff is what you want. Good crosscut saws are not longer being made, and old axe heads are plentiful and better than what you can buy new.
