Video - DaVinci Resolve - a6600 video, 2026

I pull the SD card out of my camera, put it into a card reader and then try to figure out where the video is. It turns out to be in:

Who would have guessed? Running mediainfo indicates there is no evil AAC audio encoding (it shows PCM).
I do this: 
cp *.MP4 /home/tom/Videos/Lemmon
I launch DR, select new project, name it Lemmon, then start looking for my files. I go to the media page. I see the Lemmon folder at the upper left. I expand it and see icons for my 12 clips. I select all of these and drag them below to Master. It tells me it want to change the project rate to 59.9 Hz.

I switch to the Edit page -- I see my 12 clips at the upper left in the media pool. When I preview one, it looks OK and the sound is OK.

I use the settings gear at the extreme lower right to see the project settings and it shows 1920x1080 at 59.94 Hz. No telling why I picked the 60 Hz rate in the camera.

Getting files into DR

I don't really know the best way to do this, but the above describes what I am doing at this time.

I have /home/tom/Videos set up so that the Media page sees it. But that means the only way to get files into DR now is to place them in this directory before lauching DR. I can create directories here, and then see them in DR, that seems more workable than dumping everything into the top level "Videos" directory.

Another way is to go to the Edit page, and use File -- Import and then browse to the directory with your data.

Another way

I am still groping for the best way to get video into resolve. Here is what I just did: There are a million files in /home/tom, so it would be handier to copy it to some directory that would only have a few files, yet with a short path name -- maybe /home/tom/video?

Note -- I cannot just delete the file in /home/tom. Importing it into DR did not copy the file! It needs to stick around while DR works with it.
