My BP-Solar BP3160 solar panel

I bought this for $60 at my local electronics surplus store. The say it will give me 80 percent of the ratings or my money back.

It is a 160 watt panel that should give 44.2 volts open circuit. It should run at 35.1 volts at Pmax giving 4.55 amps. It has 72 cells in series.

An MPPT conroller for this thing

Given that the voltage is way above my 12 volt battery, I want an MPPT controller. That is about a $100 purchase. An MPPT controller is basically a special purpose buck converter.

But watch the Prowse video buyers guide again (below) before buying.
