Canon R5 - video

I pulled my R5 out of the bag, put it on a tripod and discovered that I left it in video mode after the last time I used it. I was just playing around in a basic way then, but now have no clue how to get it back to taking single exposures.

Video is an entire gigantic world that I am only starting to get interested in. For now we just want to know the most basic things.

You want a CF express type B card. Sony and Sandisk have cards with suitable speeds. I am now using a SanDisk 128G card labeled "Extreme Pro". The original listing on Amazon calls it a type B. The label says Read 1700 MB/s, Write 1200 MB/s. The price for this is currently $80. For $140 you can get a Sandisk 512G card.

A warning! I have some video (MP4 files) on the card, then shot some still images and tried importing into Lightroom. It didn't work until I deleted the video. So it sounds prudent to have separate cards for video and general shooting.

Consider a cage by Smallrig to hold accessories.

Mode + Info

This is the hot tip secret to get into and out of video mode!

More -- someday

This seems like a good video. The guy talks slowly and clearly and the video is shot well enough to not get in the way of the information he prsents. He gives a tip on shooting with manual focus lenses. Find the option "release shutter without lens" and turn it on. He shows where it is.
