The Sony A6000 - remote control

There seem to be a vast array of choices. The first is to buy the IR remote for about $24, but it has limited range and only works from in front of the camera. So we move on to other options.

The camera offers connectivity by USB cable and by Wifi. There are a variety of aftermarket gadgets and perhaps even phone "apps" that exploit these capabilities

Wifi options

Sony offers something called "playmemories". I downloaded this to my Android phone, but thus far it refuses to connect to my camera. They did not make this easy or obvious. Stay tuned in case I manage to make this work someday. There is an open source project to download files via Wifi.

USB options

This leads to tethered shooting, which with lightroom is a luxury option for sure. It also seems that people have also made products that plug into the USB and then offer wireless control.
