Fountain pen videos
There are millions (maybe more) on Youtube.
Doodlebud is good. He speaks clearly and I find that I generally agree
with things he has to say.
Some unspoken truths. More expensive is not necessarily better.
Gold nibs don't necessarily write better than steel nibs.
That next new pen will basically be just another pen.
He says -- the cap seal! Big points for the Platinum.
Does the pen write immediately after sitting for several weeks?
This fellow (The Perfect Nib) puts together a very nice and interesting video:
His seven are as follows. He makes an excellent case for each of them.
And the list is a progression or journey with something to learn every
step of the way.
- Platinum Preppy $7
- Pilot Metropolitan $20
- Lamy Safari $30
- Kaweco Sport $30
- Faber Castell Grip $35
- TWSBI Eco $38
- Pilot Custom 74 $150
His next video is 7 pens that give you what Montblanc does for much less money.
He says that MB does make good pens, but they aren't worth what they want you to pay.
His has important things to say about each pen in his list.
- 7 pens that trash Montblanc
- Aurora 88 (Italian) $450 to $700
- Leonardo Momento Zero (Italian) $170 with steel nib
- Platinum 3776 Century $200 14K nib
- Sailor 1911L $250 to $300 21K nib ($175 with a steel nib)
