Catalog Format

Catalogs may be placed into /home/mmtop/catalogs where the script that runs the "scope" window will find them. When catalogs are loaded, only those stars above the horizon are shown (and the catalog should be reloaded periodically as stars rise and set). The Catalog format is as is shown in the following excerpt from the FK5 catalog:

This catalog is parsed using the following format via the unpack function in perl:

In short, you may have up to a 15 character ID for your object, then give the RA and DEC, then RA and DEC proper motions, then visual magnitude, spectral type, and epoch. The units of proper motion are ......
