Video Lenses for Macro photography

Reading John Shaws books, I got the idea of using movie camera lenses for macro photography, and bought a number of them to play around with as follows: It turns out that some of these (with a nominal thread diameter of 1 inch) are in fact C mount lenses. Even though this is an ancient standard, lots of CCTV equipment and CCD video cameras still use the C mount thread. This hasn't helped me yet, but gave hope that I might find adapters to put a C mount lens onto my digital camera or belows without having to do machine shop work myself.
