Eyepieces for Stero Microscopes

You would like to think that all eyepieces would be interchangeable, as long as the tube diameter would fit properly into the microscope. This seems to be true, with some caveats I mention below.

You may have heard of infinite conjugate objectives and suspected that they might require a special eyepiece. This is not the case. A lens in the microscope body generates an image that regular eyepieces can operate on.

Some biological microscopes use "compensating eyepieces" that correct for aberrations that are not fully addressed by the objective. It is important to keep the proper eyepieces with the biological microscope they belong to. Such eyepieces may (or may not) be marked in some special way. Odds are you would never notice if you used them on a stereo microscope.
