The Atlas Lathe

This page exists simply because I forget how to deal with the screwy way of doing things when you use yahoo groups. If you want to bypass all of my personal crib sheet (and likely you do), you can just click on the following link: First of all, you need to set up a yahoo ID. Mine is ttrebisky, with password D3m. Then you find the atlas_craftsman group and use the link to join the group, after filling out some kind of form, your request gets sent to a moderator, and in a day or two you can expect to get an email indicating you have been admitted to the group.

You may not need to do any of the above to browse the group discussions, I am not sure. You do need to join if you want to send messages to the group. You also may need to join if you want to look at files and resources that the group has accumulated (which can be quite valuable).

When I joined, I arranged that I get message by message postings forwarded to my email address (which is not a yahoo address), so all the traffic since I have joined has piled up in my mail folder and I can search it there rather than putting up with the yahoo interface.

There are actually two groups: atlas_craftsman and atlas_craftsman_projects. The first group is what you want, that is where all the traffic is. The second group is just a holder for documents and files.

When I joined the second group and was accepted, I got a mail like this:

Here are a few key tips to get you started:

* To learn more about the atlas_craftsman_projects group, please visit
  http://groups.yahoo.com/group/atlas_craftsman_projects

* To post a message to this group, send email to
  atlas_craftsman_projects@yahoogroups.com

* To contact the moderator of this group, send email to
  atlas_craftsman_projects-owner@yahoogroups.com

* To unsubscribe from this group, send email to
  atlas_craftsman_projects-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com
So, to send a message to the group we actually do want to send a message to, we send to atlas_craftsman@yahoogroups.com
