The mac mini -- ASUS PA279CRV monitor
This is the 27 inch 4K monitor I am using with the mini.
I began using this with a short USB-C cable plugged into one of the thunderbolt ports.
This certainly worked.
However, I needed a longer USB-C cable.
Instead of buying one, I switched to a nice long HDMI cable I have, and this looks fine
I used a long USB-C cable to "light up" the USB ports on the monitor.
This red cable will not carry video, and the Mini scolds me that it won't work for
video (I get the message on the screen via the HDMI when I plug it in.
Controls
It has 7 controls at the bottom left.
Like all monitors, these don't seem to work in any sensible way.
A B C D E F G
A - power on/off/indicator (white on, amber standby)
B - Quick Fix button, press to get menu
C - "signal" button, press to get menu, and to switch to next active source
D - shorcut 2 -- brightness
E - shorcut 1 -- energy saving hotkey
F - exit button
G - 5 way joystick, press to get menu
