A new monitor to go with my Mac mini

The original intent was to use my existing Dell U2413, which is a 24 inch 1920 x 1200 pixel monitor. It has a peculiar 16:10 aspect ratio. It has the virtue of an internal calibration LUT, and claims 99 percent of Adobe RGB and 100 percent of sRGB. The Panel is AH-IPS with an LED backlight. Gives 340 Nits for brightness.

There are reasonably priced 4K (3840x2160) displays available with good color accuracy.

ASUS ProArt PA279CRV 27 Inch 4K is $400
Asus ProArt PA27JCV 27 Inch 5K for $673,
ASUS ProArt PA329CRV 32 Inch 4K for $568,
ASUS ProArt PA279CDV 27" 4K OLED USB-C for $699.
ASUS ProArt PA32UCXR 32 Inch 4K (discontinued, Baker San has)
Dell Ultrasharp U2732QE 27 inch 4K for $654 (has IPS black 2000:1)
Dell Ultrasharp U2740DE 27 inch 4K for $654 (120 Hz, IPS black 2000:1)
Of the two Dell monitors, the U2732QE would be my better choice. Neither of the Dell options have to color accuracy.

These are all 100mm vesa mount compatible.

The discontinued PA32UCXR advertises 1600 Nits with 2304 zone LED backlight and a built in motorized colorimeter.

The PA279CRV is a 27 inch 4K monitor with IPS, LED backlit. It is 100mm Vesa compatible. It gives only 350-400 Nits. However, I read recommendation to set the brightness to 80, 120, or at most 160 nits -- and only 160 if you work in a bright room.

It runs at 60 Hz with a 5 ms response time. I read that a 120 Hz refresh is important for gamers, yet nice in general for a smoother experience. It can also be important for video editing.

The PA279CRV supports:

USB-C with display port (and 96W of power delivery)
Display port 1.4 in and out
Two HDMI (v2.0) ports
USB-C downstream port
Three USB-A USB 3.2 ports (for mice, keyboards)
3.5mm earphone jack
Built in stereo speakers (basic and tinny)
It is recommended to use display port rather than HDMI, but this requires a USB-C to displayport cable, as the mini ain't got no display port.

To connect to the Mac Mini, using USB-C is recommended. This will also fire up the USB hub inside the monitor.

The word is that macOS handles 4K poorly on a 27 inch screen without some work. You get tiny text or blurry UI elements. Downloading "BetterDisplay" is a commonly chosen fix.

The PA279CRB is known to have wakeup issues. Sometimes you need to turn it off and on again to get USB-C to renegotiate.
