the KME sharpening system -- videos
My unit came with some mysterious parts in a zip lock bag. This is the "thickness compensator"
that allows you to use different thickness stones and maintain proper angles.
Here is a video (by Outpost 76) of a reprofiling of a ZT-0562 in S35VN steel.
He is going from 19 to 17 degrees per side.
He says it is a "real time" video and the video runs for 32 minutes.
He starts with the 140 grit stone. He says he finds the 50 grit stone ridiculous and has not been
pleased with the 100 grit stone.
There used to be some great videos on the KME by "Knife Krazy", but they are gone.
He went through some kind of Youtube burnout and then for some reason apparently
deleted a bunch of his videos. Which is too bad.
Facebook: "edge snobs". They say Ron at KME is a great guy.
Here are some videos from "blades and fades". His videos are slow going, way too slow for me.
His custom handles for the KME are cute.
Jaws
They say you can clamp up to 3/16 inch thick full flat grind knives.
The trick is to pinch the tip of the jaws and then tighten while pinching.
