Grand Canyon: Boucher Trail - November 14-16, 2016

Here is a view from just below the rim.

The Boucher trail begins at the Hermit trailhead at 6650 feet and descends to the Colorado river at 2500 feet. So, like any rim to river hike from the south rim, there is 4000 feet of elevation change.

This hike was done as a 3 day (2 night) loop. We started via the Boucher trail, visited the Colorado River at Boucher Rapids, hiked the Tonto Trail to the camp on Hermit Creek, then returned via the Hermit trail. This makes a nice loop with plenty of variety.

Starting at the Hermit Rest trailhead, we hiked down the Hermit trail, past the Waldron junction and turning onto the Dripping Spring trail. After just over a mile, the Boucher trail takes off to the right. We hiked this trail to the river, then followed the
