Dillon 550 - primer bar

You know there are two of these? One for big and one for little primers.

Every now and then I want to take this apart and be sure it is clean. This is easy to do -- it requires a 5/32 allen key and a vise. Clamp the primer feed in the vise, loosen the set screw and it all comes apart.

You may have questions when it comes to putting it back together. It turns out this is easy. The hole in the bar is drilled (reamed probably) to the exact proper depth, you just need to put it in the vise, bottom it out, and retighten the set screw.

When done, you should be able to measure 1.215 to 1.220 from the base of the slide to the top of the mechanism. I just did mine and it measures 1.215.

The video shows a way to use the machine to bottom out the primer feed if you don't have a handy vise like I do.
