Bear Canyon Pizza **

This is basically a sports bar that happens to serve pizza. If you are into offbeat beer and many kinds of it (I am not) this might be your place - for the beer anyway.

The pizza is inconsistent. It is also overpriced. Sometimes it is very good, but never great. Other times it is just mediocre. Probably good enough if you are mostly into guzzling lots of beer, but for someone looking for great pizza, it won't do.

As someone who enjoys sausage pizza, I have to say that whatever they serve up as sausage is pretty bad. Make a different selection for sure, or be willing to put up with slices of something they slice off of some hot dog like object (or buy pre-chopped in a big container for all I know).

And besides the already high price, I am pretty sure I was overcharged there recently, paying $29.89 for a 16 inch pizza and two sodas. On top of that, we waited over 40 minutes for the pizza, which seems excessive, especially when you are hungry. The receipt does not give an itemized breakdown, so there is no way to tell what went down, and I give a demerit just for that. Here is what should have happened.

We ordered a 16 inch pizza, half pepperoni, and half sausage and mushroom. Apparently they count this as 3 toppings, while in truth it is really 1.5 -- but never mind that, let's total it up as 3 toppings.

Basic 16 inch cheese pizza -- 17.50
Three toppings at 1.00 each - 3.00
Two sodas at 2.00 each -- 4.00

That comes out to 24.50 and add 6.1 percent tax (given the 85749 area code)
and we get 25.99. Even at 8.7 percent I get 26.63.
So I got overcharged to the tune of $3 or $4

I don't know about you, but paying $30 for pizza and sodas for two people seems a bit much. Yes we had two slices left over.
