Actually I read that 4 spices are central to the curry flavor profile:
turmeric, coriander, cumin, and fenugreek
Moving beyond thinking of curry as a spice blend, I ran across this statement:
Traditional curries are actually a cooking method.This is interesting. Not a spice, or spice mex. Not a dish either, but a method.
