Visonic MCT-340E
This is a wireless door/window sensor that you can buy on Amazon for $15.
People repurpose it for lots of other things.
The Samsung smarthings hub these are intended to work with is an $84 item. These have a Zigbee radio inside, so there is a lot of hacking
potential perhaps. The Smarthings ecosystem, seems to be cloud based, exactly what I don't want if so.
