The Gtopo program and GPS devices

Right now, this is just a twinkle in my eye, but it is a major item at the top of the TODO list for gtopo. To this end, I invested $20 and bought a Pharos GPS-360 "usb puck" on Ebay. This little thing apparently was sold with a Microsoft product called "Streets and Trips, 2005".

For more than you want to know about the Pharos GPS-360 check this link.

The GPS-360 works on and off with gpsd on my linux machines. The receiver is pretty wimpy and only rarely will get a proper lock indoors. So, I want to connect it to my macbook and head outdoors with the thing. See my notes on using the Pharos GPS-360 with OS X to find out how this story goes.
