VNC server on Debian

On Fedora, I install tigervnc, but this is not available on Debian. Who knows what the reason is or why I should care. It seems that "tightvnc" is the game, so fine, whatever:
su
apt-get install tightvncserver
exit
After finishing the install, I type "vncserver" as a regular user. It asks me to set a password. It asks if I want to set a view only password (I don't). Then it launches the server.
