Kotlin in 2023

This began with the desire to install the Kotlin compiler on my Fedora 38 linux machine. I already have Android studio installed, but was interested in experimenting with Kotlin independent of Android. By accident, I first installed Kotlin native by mistake and spent a couple of days working with that. That was not what I wanted. Next I installed the IntelliJ IDEA community edition and that very much was what I wanted.

Entirely by accident I ended up installing Kotlin native. I had no idea there even was such a thing.

These notes discuss Kotlin without regard to Android (insofar as possible). I may or may not figure out how to install Kotlin so it will use the JRE independent of my Android studio install.
