Ad blocking
I recently added ad blocking plugins to my browser. At first I thought this was only available
for Firefox, but it is available for the Chrome browser also. The huge benefit is when watching
Youtube videos, which used to rudely interrupt at random times to show some irritating ad.
This wasn't so bad with broadcast TV, when they were planned for and expected.
I started wondering though about ad blocking at a more global level. Some people set up software
called pihole on a raspberry pi which is acting as a router. I don't see why I could not runs
such software on my desktop linux machine in lieu of deploying dedicated hardware for the purpose.
