Restoring my Peugeot PX-10 - Rear derailleur
A great tip in the video is to take a photo with your phone of the chain path through the derailleur.
The B-screw sets the clearance to the cluster.
You check it with the derailleur set on the biggest cog in the rear.
There should be a 5-6mm gap between the G cog on the derailleur and the cog.
Use mild thread locker to install. Torque to 8-10 N-m.
Cable end tips (crimps)
You can buy 100 of these on Amazon, so I did! I bought the ones designated "brake".
There are two sizes. Shift (1.2mm) and brake (1.4mm)
There is a very nice tool from Park for these, but it costs $30. I will try using one of my assortment of wire
crimping tools. I will only be doing this on rare occasions.
How about an indexed rear derailleur?
An Ultegra 8 speed derailleur costs $78
The shifters are another story. They usually get sold in a pair for around $200 and I would only convert my
rear to an indexed setup. I think I would pitch this project to my local bike shop.
