Restoring my Peugeot PX-10 - Pedals

I am done with clip pedals. I am a casual biker, not a racer. I am out to relax (sort of) and cruise around.

Removing pedals

Just watch this video. Aim the tool forward on either side and pull up. Yes, the left side is reverse (left hand) thread. If this guys other videos are this good, they are worth watching.

Which pedal

My local bike shop recommended "Chester" pedals. These go for $40, are a nylon composite with a chrome-moly steel axle. The price is right and they are recommended. There are lots of color choices (even orange). These are "Raceface Chester". $32 on Amazon. These are great pedals. I had the ided of getting orange to go with my yellow bike, but the color combination was all wrong -- so I switched to the Shimano PD-EF202.

Another option is the Crankbrothers "Stamp", but the Stamp 2 is $84, and if you go for the Stamp 7 (all metal) it is $170. The Stamp 7 might make sense for the aggressive mountain biker who was breaking composite pedals, but I think I will give the Chester a try and go from there.

Shimano PD-EF202

This is what I bought. They feel just a bit heavy. They are 512 grams per pair and intended for "leisure or mountain biking". For comparison, the Chesters weigh 360 grams per pair. The Stamp 7 are 375 (large) or 345 (small).

If you are worried about weight, you would be using clip pedals.

Shimano PD-EF202 "Urban Flat" pedals for $49. They don't have the little metal spikes that the Chesters do. They are all metal and simple, and seem indestructible.

Mikashima

Another interesting option for $74 are these
