Mountain Biking at Sweetwater (Tucson)
This area is on the west side of Tucson and more or less in my backyard.
Ratings on the various trails on various sites are almost useless, they
call everything "easy", which is certainly not my experience.
Easy trails
- Desperado loop - everyone's favorite.
- Night Hawk Trail
- Roller Coaster
- Wildflower Ridge, east is easy (west is hard and rocky)
- Homestead - but there is no easy way to get to it.
- Saguaro Vista (a rocky section at the start).
A nice loop off of Desperado is Nighthawk trail and then return on the east part
of Wildflower ridge. This requires riding Oxbow, which is loose.
If you do this the other way (start on Wildflower and return on Nighthawk),
the Oxbow section is downhill and much more pleasant.
Intermediate trails
The following have rocky sections that I cannot ride,
so I call them solid intermediate.
- Red Tail Trail
- Wild Flower ridge west
- Lost Arrow
- The Spine
