What Mitutoyo 10x do you have?

Take a look at these two forum discussions: I find the first discussion very interesting. We see images from an old and new Mitutoyo side by side. The difference is probably not due to revisions by Mitutoyo. The old objective was purchased used on Ebay, and the second was purchased new from Edmund. It may be a question of unknown history is possible damage to the used item.

That is not to say that there have not been design changes in the new version. I have heard reports that the old versions has more field curvature and Rik Littlefield notes that the front element reflections in the two objective are different.

My 10x is the old version with the protruding black ring. A also have been underwhelmed by its performance. Also take note that these forum discussions were back in 2013.

A new 10x is $1040 from Edmund Optics in the 0.28 NA version. Note that there is a 0.42 NA version that is much more expensive.
