Fingers
There is a controversy about what to do with the two "extra" fingers on your
right hand when playing 3 finger style. One view is that the only correct
way to play is with those two fingers anchored on the head.
Another view, and I think the correct one is that people are different and
not everyone can manage this. The question then is whether someone who
does not anchor their fingers is being lazy and/or sloppy or if they really
just can't play that way.
The above article on the Deering website takes a balanced and sensible view.
The question is whether your middle finger can move freely with the ring finger anchored.
Jim Pankey anchors just the "pinky" very close to the bridge.
Being close to the bridge gives a brisker sound.
