QTR - The University of Arizona tuition reduction program

If you work at the U of A, or are retired from working at the U of A, and have dependent children, you are probably eligible for the tuition reduction benefit. For that matter, you or your spouse can claim the benefit.

With some luck, you can follow this link to information about the program on the Human Resources pages at the U of A.

As of the summer of 2011, the deadline for submitting the paperwork was changed. It used to be you could apply anytime in the semester you wanted reduced fees. Now you must submit the QTR application by the 35th day of classes. In 2011, these deadlines are:

A dependent child is a child who has not yet reached the age of 30 years and who may be claimed as a dependent on federal income tax.

Employees and spouses may register for 1-9 units during a regular semester at the reduced rate of $25.00

Dependents pay 25 percent of resident tuition.

Resident Tuition for an undergraduate for Fall of 2011 taking 7+ units is $4182, plus $467.88 of mandatory fees for a total of $4649.68.

With the QTR discount this is reduced to $1045.50 plus $467.88 of fees, for a total of $1513.18.
